Black History Month Celebration 2015

Andy Street Community Association and 8th District Councilman Al Austin in collaboration with the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association present Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow, a Black History Month Celebration.  Opening on Friday, February 6th and ending with a culminating Sunday Gospel Brunch on February 8th, this gala event of African American heritage will include the Forgotten Images Collection, the Mamie Hansberry Art Collection, Civil Rights Era Long Beach Women in "Breaking Through, Lighting the Way" and the Duke Givens Photo Exhibit entitled the "Power of Choice."


This free event will also feature music by multi-platinum award-winning musician, producer & songwriter Charles Julian Fearing and award-winning singer/songwriter Sweet Baby J'ai.  Doors open at the Expo Arts Center, 4321 Atlantic Avenue, Long Beach, CA at 6pm on Friday, February 6th.  Sunday's Gosepl Brunch at 1pm costs $20 for adults and $13 for children 12 and under.  For event information, sponsorship opportunities and tickets to the brunch, contact LaVerne Duncan at or visit the website:  This a Long Beach Works production.
